The talking about learning actually helps you come to see the meaning of it, so it expands your skills.

Structured steps

Children often fail because they have gaps in their understanding and knowledge. DigiSmart aims to cover some of this missed ground.

DigiSmart takes children, step by step, from a very simple level of research to higher levels of information handling, communication and presentation.

Each session explicitly teaches them strategies to cope with the tasks they are to complete. Through small, achievable steps the programme builds their confidence and gives them the opportunity to apply the strategies they are learning to solve real world challenges.

The key learning objectives for each weekly session are introduced to the group by the Lead Tutor, then the whole group works to these identified targets with each child working at their own pace and at their own computer. This allows staff to provide a high level of support and, in addition, the children enjoy a structured working experience with a defined collective outcome.

As they progress through the weekly activities, the structure fosters a sense of security in children and helps to build their confidence and self-belief. As a result, their willingness and ability to work more independently develops significantly.
